Stephen Lernout, CEO and Chairman

Stephen Lernout is a serial Internet entrepreneur with background in technology sales and marketing. Mr. Lernout joined MIIA Belgium BVBA in 2008 as vice president, marketing, for consumer applications in Europe and the United States. He helped develop and implement the company’s new business model focused on building effective, innovative and highly competitive natural language processing products. Mr. Lernout restructured the entire organization and recruited key executive team members and partners to drive MIIAtech’s go-to-market strategy. Two years later, he was elevated to CEO and appointed chairman. As a young entrepreneur, Mr. Lernout co-founded, built and later sold-off two Internet start-ups in the B-to-B and food and beverage sectors – all by the age of 28.

 Frank Aernout, VP, Business Development

 Frank Aernout brings more than 20 years of experience in marketing, business development, international expansion and corporate restructuring. Prior to joining MIIAtech, Mr. Aernout spent six years working as a consultant for a variety of companies including Groupe Primavista, Family Service International and Base assisting in business development, creating marketing strategies and reorganizing and restructuring the organizations to reach their business objectives. Previous positions also include co-founding Cutting Edge Toys, which specialized in innovative and technologically advanced electronic toys; establishing the European business unit of Princeton Video Image Europe, a virtual imaging and advertising company; BMG Benelux, a music division of the Bertelsmann Group; Pepsi-Cola International in the Netherlands and Switzerland; and Procter & Gamble Benelux, where he started his career as a brand manager.

 Geert Devos, VP R&D Operations

Geert Devos has more than 30 years of experience in the information technology industry. Prior to joining MIIAtech full-time, Mr. Devos worked as a consultant for the company and was responsible for the setup of its Chinese, Dutch and French language models. Previously, Mr. Devos was founder and CEO of E-DEO in Belgium, a reseller of the automatic translation software program Systran and the speech recognition software Dragon Naturally Speaking. From 1995 to 2000, Mr. Devos was IT manager for KBC Lease where he oversaw the migration and integration of multiple IT projects.
